Ahom Studies
This deptt. has a separate unit for Ahom Studies establish in 1931.. There are more than 240 manuscripts written in Ahom & other Tai Languages related to Buranjis, Lakni (Ahom year) divitiation & Omen (Traditional astrological work) Buddhism etc. Translations of some Tai manuscripts into Assamese are done. The Ahom lexicon was first published by this deptt. in 1964. The Ahom premier (1935) was republished in 1968 and 1987.
